For the disabled and those who have severe walking problems, parking at shopping centres etc., can be a very big problem.  That is of course if you don't have a "Blue Badge" that allows you to park free of charge.  Always read the parking notices to ensure the correct tariff for Blue Badge holders, because some councils and car parking companies do charge.  The rules and regulations for those who are entitled to the badges have changed as of January 2012 and you can find out all that you need to know either by looking up your local council website or by going to the websites listed below.

You used to get reminding letters when your blue badge was about to need replacing but that is no longer the case. You now have to make sure yourself when your Blue Badge about to expire and apply for a replacement.  More information is available on the application form.
